Small NGOs in South East Asia and South America recruit through their own local media and networks. So, for South America, you would need to speak Spanish or Portuguese, at least; small NGOs prefer people who also speak local tribal languages. For South East Asia, local NGOs also prefer people who speak the local language, or at least French (for Vietnam).
