i'm working on my aas in computer network administration / support... you need to get some certifications to go with your aas. I have a part time job doing user support and network admin stuff but they don't pay me enough and its a really small office, and alot of things i need to do i cant do during the day so they go un-done.

my primary is cisco but i'm moving over to more 2003 server stuff, taking my 70-290 test in a couple weeks.

i think the jobs are out there but alot of them are looking for people with 3-5 years experience, bachelors degrees... etc.
Reply:Networking is good. You might want to look into getting certifications along with that degree.
Reply:I think it would be, as well as programming.

Spelling would be something to look at:)
Reply:YES!!! I've worked in the IT industry for over 30 years now. I now work on the business consultancy side, but it's provided me with a good living. But a couple of things. If you're going on the technical side of things, try to get stuff like Microsoft accreditation. I think you can get similar from Cisco Systems, you want to make sure you have these 'certifications' from the 'big boys'. I've met lots of people who work in networking for some pretty big companies (I'm talking multi-national pharmaceuticals in this instance). IT people are ten a penny but you do meet some who stand out from the rest with their expertise. These ones are worth their weight in gold! Make sure you become one of these!
