Are there any other groups like the BNI to be involved with? I'm looking to do some networking. I tried our city's chamber of commerce and young professionals club, but both were merely saturated with other mortgage brokers, and events were basically nights at bars. I don't mind a bar, but I wanted to network for business-- something a bit more serious.
Regarding Networking, has anyone joined the BNI? (%26amp; their thoughts)?
When you join BNI, be prepared for a marriage. You have to go to every meeting or find a sub to go.
I'm not saying that's bad though. It makes you network. And the goal of BNI is to help the OTHER people in the group...you're not really there for yourself. Just a heads up.
Ask the Chamber of Commerce if they know of any other networking groups in your area.
Good Luck!
Reply:Have you looked into the resources by your local community college? I made a LOT of networked friends there. I have done the Chamber of Commerce clubs, Rotary clubs, Kiwanis, etc., but the fact is you just talk to people. Talk to them while you're waiting in line at the supermarket, at the laundry mat, at the car wash, at parties, wherever you are.
That's the real gist of networking - communicating with others.
Good luck
