It is an HPdeskjet D4260. After it was networked to print from several computers (Dell computers), it will not print colors properly. We switched the cartridges several times and even tried hooking up a different printer. Same issue in printing color. Could it have something to do with networking it? If so, any suggestions for remedying it?
Thanks!
Would networking a printer affect colors printing?
Not related at all by the network. However maybe your drivers are obsolete. Consider getting the latest. Maybe there is a bug in the drivers you are using to access the printer by the network.
Do you have the same color problem with every software ?
It might also be the printer heads (not the same as cartridge)
Reply:Nah - a network is merely concerned with the transfer of files. It cannot possibly affect your hard copies. You might try removing your cartridges and dabbing the extremities with a clean cloth - it would take out ink blots. You might re-align them afterwards. A last option might be to get all new ink cartridges. If its many PCs and 1 DESKJET, you can expect ink levels to drop fast.
Reply:No, it shouldn't affect the printer. Make sure all the machines have the SAME drivers, the most updated ones, that should resolve the issue.
*Also I'd check the printer settings, make sure no one turned color to black and white, etc.
Reply:The problem is not with the networking of the computers. As long as they are in the network then the printer only sees the computer sending it information at that time and this will not effect the printer operations or coloring. Sounds like a printer problem and you should check with the manufactor to see what is wrong with it.
Reply:What you need to do is check printer settings on each of the computers that have access to the printer on the network. they should all be the same. Also, for some models of printers, you have to load the printer driver on each computer in order to get the instruction correctly sent to the network printer.
