Computer Networking Career?

Hello,

I been considering changing my career focus and perhaps go into Computers (IT). Tonight I was at the community college nearby and picked up some brochures but it does not go into detail. I only want to maybe get certified or maybe just get an AA degree in something in Computers. I was thinking about Networking. Keep in mind I am horrible at Math, but for these courses, there are no Math classes involved. So my question is, how difficult is Computer Networking as a Career and how good is the money? What kind of hours would I be working? Can I get a good job in this without a Bachelor's Degree?

Computer Networking Career?
Computing has blue collar and white collar streams. Programming, software development and management is the white collar area. Crawling under desks, setting up computers and networks is the blue collar area.

In the past network professionals had computing degrees, but they never learnt how to do the job at university. Recently the trend has been away from this, with more practically orientated courses and industry certifications.

The pay in computer/network support can be pretty bad, and it is a job that best suits someone with good communication skills.

Eventually you would need to consider doing a masters in information technlogy or an MBA to take on the Information Management roles (not network management, but management of the information in a company, including software, hardware, networking, people etc).

So basically do the computer technology courses, get a lot work experience (anything is good) and then get a job. Over time get more industry certification MCP , MCSE, CISCO etc.
Reply:Any focus on technology would be a great asset. Did you see the recent documentary on 'Geeks'. Companies, as well as individuals are seeking computer techs to solve the complexities of reprogramming and thousand little gadgets. Yes, great money if very advanced in your study.

I have been doing travel as my home business on the internet and have had great returns. Research your internet business well before starting, but once you have found your niche in the industry, you are on your way to making a great income.
