I have a Windows Vista Home Premium laptop and a Windows XP Home Edition PC and I'm trying to network them. I've installed LLTD on the XP computer. The XP computer shows up on Vista's network map, and on the list of shared computers, but when I try to access it, it says it can't be accessed and gives me the error message "0x80070035". The XP computer however does not recognize that the Vista laptop is there at all. Both computers have sharing enabled. Both have firewalls but are configured to allow networking. Someone told me that Norton's firewall is blocking it, but it is not installed on the XP computer, and it is not activiated on the Vista laptop. Help?
Vista and XP Networking Problem?
Networking has been a big issue between the two operating systems. It may be the firewall, try adjusting temporarily turning off Auto Protect and see if they connection will establish. If not, it is a problem with that different operating systems conflicting.
Reply:Go to http://www.networkmagic.com/purchase.php and buy a program called Network Magic (only about 30$ for 3 pc's) it works like a charm. I have had the most difficult time getting windows file sharing and printer to work, i installed this and it found all of my computers and printers, shared them and now i can access all of my files and printers from any computer!
